About The Roots Programme

Founded in 2017 by social impact thought leader Ruth Ibegbuna, The Roots Programme connects people, issues and communities – deepening our understanding of ourselves in relation to the lives of others.

Roots Founder Ruth Ibegbuna

We are a Community Interest Company that was born from the division, distrust and polarisation created by Brexit. In a world still grappling with new and developing forms of division and uncertainty, our purpose has only grown stronger.

Roots is led by Ruth Ibegbuna, a social entrepreneur recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the 500 most influential people in the UK and by Virgin as a top international female changemaker.

On a mission to foster genuine understanding and connection across communities, Roots runs programmes that create space for open dialogue and transformative exchanges among people from all walks of life.

Introducing our 3 Cs

Our programmes inspire thought provoking experiences that encourage Curiosity, Connection, and Compassion. By encouraging participants to look beyond their own perspectives, we foster genuine empathy and a sense of shared purpose. This approach builds a foundation for deep understanding and solidarity, equipping individuals to contribute meaningfully to a more connected society.
